Номинанты были объявлены 6 декабря 2012 года в Лос-Анджелесе. К ранее присуждаемым по 78 категориям премиям Грэмми добавлены 3 новые номинации - Best Classical Compendium, Best Latin Jazz Album и Best Urban Contemporary Album, что увеличило общий спиcок наград до 81
